That is what I will be tonight! My friend Scarlett James is performing as part of the festivities at Auberge St Gabriel in Old Montreal. I will be assisting her. Usually I wear my fedora and look like her security - sexy security as I am in fishnets, frilly panties and a corset. But tonight we decided to do a little more. I will have a big tulle skirt and a tiny hat. The corset remains. Its a staple of burlesque attire, didn’t ya know? ;-)

Now, the personal stuff… I have often put too much emphasis on the magic of New Year’s Eve and midnight kisses. This will be my second NYE single. Last year’s was rather depressing. I tried to be in a social spirit, not a romantic one. I had hoped to be among people who wanted to dance and laugh. However, everyone seemed in a self involved mood and not at all social. Of course, I really didn’t know anyone at the event except for my dear friend who was performing. Well, I knew others but they paid me no mind and just spent the evening discussing their own belly buttons. All to say it was not a great night. I felt very alone.
This year I planned to work so it would give me something to do among the craziness. Also, I chose a gig with friends so we will have fun as we get the job done. Burlesque gigs are a bit hectic and often very long, but at least I get to dress up and be social with strangers. It so much easier for me to approach people when in costume. People actually approach me too which rarely happens in my day to day life. Still, I wonder how I will be without my midnight kiss with someone I love and who loves me back. My therapist and I came up with a different approach, a focus inward on all that I do have, but its a new one and not yet tested. So we will see!
